Also, please note that this list was put together by myself and a few volunteers. While we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the included listings, there are sure to be some oversights given the nature and size of this project. Please let us know if a listing is incorrect as we work to make this as accurate and complete as possible.

Alexandria, Pentagon, Falls Church and Arlington

Sora Ethiopian: This Alexandria Ethiopian cafe is dedicated to bringing you high quality and delicious food. Have it delivered or call for carry out at 703-566-3855.

Amore Congelato: This veteran woman-owned gelato shop in Pentagon Row serves up high protein gelatos sweetened with dates! They're open Mon-Fri: 4-7:30pm, Sat: 1:15-7:30pm, Sun: 12:30-7:30pm. Delivery is also available through Uber and Doordash daily or order on their website for direct evening deliveries on Sun, Tuesday, and Thursday. They're also at the Reston Farmers Market on Saturday from 8am-12pm.

Enjera: This Ethiopian restaurant in Arlington specializes in delicious and reasonably priced cuisine. They’re open for carryout, so call ahead to place your order at 703-271-6040.

Meaza Ethiopian Cuisine: This Ethiopian restaurant in Falls Church is available for delivery via Uber Eats, Doordash and Postmates. Or call 703-820-2870 to order for curbside pickup.

Hawwi Ethiopian Restaurant: This incredible family-owned Ethiopian restaurant in Alexandria remains open for takeout Tuesday through Sunday from 1pm to 9pm. Call 703-717-9740 to order.

Caribbean Plate:  This Jamaican spot in Falls Church and has a huge array of curries, roti, and tasty sides.  They're open everyday for pick up and delivery 12-6pm. Order here.  

Idido: This cafe and coffeehouse in Arlington remains daily from 7am-6pm. Stop by or order on their website.

Viola Pastry & Cafe: This pastry shop in Alexandria featuring high quality natural

Charlottesville & Fredericksburg

Soul Food Joint: Get a home-cooked meal without the home-cooked fuss with the Soul Food Joint, open for curbside pickup at its East Market Street location 11AM-3PM in Charlottesville. Check out a menu online or submit your orders by calling 434-465-4535. Available for delivery with Grubhub.

Angelic’s Kitchen: A mobile soul food truck specializing in fried fish, normally located at 538 East High Street, Pantops mountain across from CVS. Feel free to call ahead at (434) 962-6695, or check out their catering here.

Irie Caribbean American: This Caribbean spot in Woodbridge caters to all spice levels with their Jamaican Jerk spices and remains open for carryout.

Le Bon Grill African Restaurant: This African restaurant not only gives back to its community, but they also serve Woodbridge a variety of sizzling African cuisine. Call 703-499-8010 to order ahead.

Enatye Ethiopian Restaurant: This Ethiopian restaurant in Herndon prides itself in presenting you delicious food as if you were in Ethiopia. They are open Monday- Saturday, so call ahead to place your order at 703-436-2166.


Vera’s Kitchen: This woman-owned kitchen in Manassas is home to authentic Ethiopian cuisine. They are open for carryout and delivery, so give them a call at 703-479-7655 or use Grubhub, DoorDash, and UberEats.

Tropical Bites: This Caribbean bistro in Manassas stays true to authentic west indian cuisine. You can order delivery via Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, or Online.

Sweet Pearlz Cheesecakes: Sweet Pearlz Cheesecakes is a woman-owned, family operated, businesses based in Manassas that specializes in gourmet classic, vegan and gluten free cheesecakes. Their 9" Cheesecakes are sold by the slice Fridays at Jirani Coffeehouse and all orders can be picked up at Jirani Coffeehouse or delivered throughout the week. Fill out their online form to order.

Shrimp Shack Winchester: This food truck makes one of most plump shrimp sandwiches you will find. They are open from 10:30am-8pm, check their facebook for an accurate location.

Hedzole Afroeats: This Virginia-based meal service is serving some of the most flavorful handmade dishes. Find her at FreshFarm Springfield on Saturdays from 10am-2pm.

Croaker’s Spot: This staple is still open serving up some of the best soul food in Virginia. Call now to place your order at their Richmond or Norfolk locations to order or use GrubHub.

Sweet Zen7 Health Bar: This woman-owned health bar is located in Guildtown and offers up some of the best organic treats you will find. Call now to order and freshen up your day at 703-330-4440.

Crepes & Karak: This vintage coffeehouse in Vienna is the first Karak

Rahama African Restaurants: this family owned African restaurant provides authentic, upscale, and premium dishes at affordable prices at their Silver Spring, Alexandria, and Woodbridge locations. You can find them on Uber Eats and order over the phone based on location.

Thompson Hospitality restaurants: This Black-owned food and facilities management company's portfolio includes multiple DC and VA spots that are still open for takeout and delivery. Get your burger fix at Big Buns, fried chicken sandwiches at The Rub, and some classic pizzas, pastas, and salads at various Matchbox locations which remain open.

Dama Pastry and Restaurant: This traditional Ethiopian dinner and dessert spot in Annandale remains open 9am-6pm for takeout. Call 703-333-2819.

Johnny Ray's Sultry Soul Food: Treat yourself to sweet potato pie or peach cobbler from this casual Black-owned soul food spot and catering service. Place your order now by calling 703-400-7953.

Sibby's: Summertime calls for barbecue, and this southern barbecue joint has you and Warrenton covered. Order online or over the phone at 540-347-3764.

Talk of the Mountain Seafood: This black owned seafood joint in Front Royal serves one of the most plump crab cakes that your eyes will see. Order online or carryout.

Manna Bistro & Bakery: This woman-owned Ethiopian restaurant is located in Centreville and a great fit for vegan and meat eaters looking for authentic cuisine. Order online, call 703-543-6690, or order via DoorDash.

Sylvanaqua Farms: Working to democratize food and agriculture in the DC region, Sylvanaqua Farms in Montross is available through door-to-door delivery in certain Virginia cities. Check out their delivery map and schedule on their website.
